Taking a positive attitude
We know stress is never going to go away. So why can some people manage it so much better than others?
A lot of it has to do with the sense of being in control, despite the world being out of control. You may not be able to do anything about the power outtage in your area, or the soaring price of gas, but you can have a positive frame of mind that tells you that you’re able to handle anything.
In addition, you might want to make a second list, of things you can do for yourself so you don’t feel like you’re walking around with a short fuse.
Think of things that you can do to improve your lifestyle. Are you eating the right things, taking the time to exercise and get the proper nutrients for your body?
Are you talking about your feelings with others? How reliable is your support network? Do you need to find a different career path?
These are examples that you need to think about when you are trying to define your life and what is causing you the most stress.
Do not forget about the fun and entertainment in your life. You have to include these things into your schedule so that you are getting regular breaks from the stress that can build up.
You should jot down the things that you like to do and what makes you happy. Make sure that you are enjoying these things regularly in your life so that you can be a well-rounded person, not a pressure cooker about to blow.
Once you have made your list, plan a little schedule for yourself for all the fun things you can do, and the steps you can take to adjust your life here and there, one step at a time, to decrease your stress levels.
Then keep your list in a safe place, and go over it on a regular basis. Make the necessary changes where they are needed and take the time to enjoy things. You need to stop and smell the roses once in a while to maintain a healthy outlook on life.
You will find that once you take a good long look at your life and the stressors in it, you can use this list as a way towards personal growth. Work on it bit by bit every day, and you will watch your stress disappear.
